Take your pick: Stay inside the coffin or stay at home

BALIANGAO, Misamis Occidental: An empty coffin has been displayed by local officials of this municipality at Barangay Poblacion with an unusual objective: “To warn residents in the community and visiting persons from other towns to stay at home and refrain from going out during day time.”

Barangay (village) captain Joel Lapur, who initiated the idea in consultation with the mayor of Baliangao whom he failed to identify, disclosed that the admonition is “primarily aimed at minimizing the threat of coronavirus infection among local inhabitants.”
