A group of bank marketing officials on Tuesday offered account holders ways to protect themselves from online financial crimes amid increasing reports of people falling prey to them.

In a statement, the Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines (BMAP) cautioned that cyberattacks, such as phishing and smishing, were growing and evolving fast after the coronavirus pandemic and the restrictive measures imposed to contain it opened opportunities for these to be committed.
