Bad loans incurred by the Philippine banking system grew by 32 percent in the first seven months of the year, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reported on Thursday.

Preliminary data from the central bank showed that lenders’ gross nonperforming loans (NPL) soared to P290.10 billion at end-July from P219.57 billion a year ago.
