SEN. Sherwin Gatchalian sought the immediate distribution of aid for displaced teaching and non-teaching personnel, saying this was provided for under the Bayanihan to Recover As One Act or Bayanihan 2 Law.
The senator noted that on September 10, the Department of Education (DepEd) reported that 748 out of 14,435 private schools nationwide would not operate this school year (SY), affecting 3,233 teachers and 40,345 learners.
