THE Philippines secured from the Japanese government on Tuesday a 50-billion yen (P23.3 billion) standby loan for its post-disaster response efforts in the event of a national calamity or health emergency.

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez 3rd and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chief Representative Eigo Azukizawa signed the agreement for the second phase of the Post-Disaster Standby Loan (PDSL 2) at the department’s head office in Manila.
