China-backed Dito Telecommunity Corp. will spend P1 billion to establish a cybersecurity center aimed at allaying growing public concern that Beijing might spy on the Philippines.

During a virtual briefing on Thursday, Dito Chief Technology Officer Rodolfo Santiago told reporters the amount “is contracted to be utilized for the building of our cybersecurity operating center to monitor cyberattacks.”
