ATENEAN Ricky Sobreviñas I got to meet through a lively edifying email forum (Ateneo for a Better Philippines). We worked together with courageous, enterprising Raissa Robles (daughter of human rights lawyer Joe Espinosa) and others in putting together a litany of gross human rights violations of the Marcoses.

She began with a blood-curdling narrative of how teenager Boyet Mijares had been tortured and his body dumped out of a chopper on May 31, 1977 in Antipolo. No one knows what happened to his father, Tibo, who had denounced the conjugal dictatorship in the United States Congress. Reprisal? The couple had the motive, means and opportunity to make Tibo “disappear.”
