JOHANESSBURG: South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) urged greater African representation at the United Nations Security Council as well as a stimulus package for the continent as it confronts the coronavirus.
Ramaphosa, who holds the rotating leadership of the continental body, the African Union, made the call in a remote speech to the UN General Assembly. “The current composition of the Security Council does not reflect the world in which we live,” Ramaphosa said by video.
