Two gas platforms that were shut down last year would be converted into military observation stations for monitoring the Recto (Reed) Bank and the active gas fields in Palawan, the Philippine Navy said on Sunday.
VAdm. Giovanni Carlo Bacordo, the Navy flag officer in command, visited the Nido and Matinloc platforms northwest of Palawan on Saturday. He was accompanied by Palawan-based military officials.
