YEREVAN: Arch foes Armenia and Azerbaijan were on the brink of all-out conflict on Sunday (Monday in Manila) after deadly clashes that claimed at least 24 lives over a decades-long territorial dispute sparked international calls for a halt to fighting.
The worst clashes since 2016 have raised the specter of a fresh war between ex-Soviet rivals Azerbaijan and Armenia, which have been locked for decades in a stalemate over the Armenia-backed breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
