It is a great time to be a JDM car fan. If you’ve got the money, you can simply walk into a dealership around the Metro and buy yourself a Honda Civic Type R, a Mazda MX-5 Miata, a Subaru WRX STi or BRZ, the Nismo 370Z, the mighty Nissan GTR or the most popular among the lot, the legendary Toyota GR Supra.

Although when it was introduced last year, JDM fans almost took to the streets and die hard Supra fans expressed their disappointment when their beloved icon was deemed a sacrilege due to its BMW sourced platform and drivetrain. Pop open the hood, and you can count the number of BMW badges all around the engine and body panels. I have had my bouts of debates with JDM fans about the new Supra. Their argument always start from the car’s origins, and it does not pay tribute to the previous generation when the mere mention of its 2JZ engine would be enough to scare the Italians and Americans about the Supra’s overall performance.
