The best team always wins the NBA Finals. Just ask the 2004 Los Angeles Lakers bannered by four future Hall of Famers — Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone and Gary Payton. That super team was supposed to handily win the Larry O’Brien trophy that season, but were dispatched in five games in their best-of-seven championship series by the Detroit Pistons.

Just like that version of the Bad Boys, this year’s Miami Heat is a collection of discarded parts and no-name players. Like I said before, this year’s team from South Beach is special and, like the Pistons of the early 2000s, hang their heads on defense.
