Besides the fear that their children might get infected with Covid-19 as well as the absence of necessary instructional materials for their kids, hundreds of parents residing in far-flung barangays in Zamboanga Peninsula reportedly failed to enroll their public elementary and secondary school children for the School Year 2020-2021 which officially opened on October 5.

Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Director Isabelita Borres, who holds office at Barangay Tiguma in Pagadian City, earlier quoted Secretary Leonor Briones as directing all public schools “to shift to blended learning as the traditional face-to-face classes remain prohibited due to the health crisis.”
