House bill filed on public service air time

A lawmaker at the House of Representatives has filed a bill requiring public service time in broadcast media and online news sites.

In House Bill 7819 or the proposed “Public Service Announcement Act,” Camarines Sur Second District Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte proposes requiring all online and traditional broadcast media entities to provide at least three minutes of airtime per day to the government’s education and public awareness. These may include information on newly enacted laws and their implementing rules and regulations (IRR) and the services offered by government agencies.
