The Department of Health (DoH) said the novel coronavirus will linger in the country for quite a while, reflecting a warning from a university-based research group of a possible rise in infections following the easing of restrictions.

In its report dated October 26, the Octa Research Group, led by the University of the Philippines, predicted the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) case count to go up after the government relaxed health rules for public transportation in an effort to revive the economy that has been crippled by the pandemic.
