From November 9 to 13, 2020, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will celebrate its first Investor Protection Week, pursuant to Proclamation 846, series of 2019 that was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Nov. 15, 2019, declaring the second week of November of every year as Investor Protection Week.
Proclamation 846 s. 2019 is in line with Section 2, Chapter I of Republic Act 8799 or the “Securities Regulation Code,” which states that: “The state shall establish a socially conscious, free market that regulates itself, encourage the widest participation of ownership in enterprises, enhance the democratization of wealth, promote the development of the capital market, protect investors.”
