Reduced power demand as a result of recent typhoons caused prices at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) to drop this month, according to the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (Iemop).

In a briefing on Wednesday, the Iemop said that as of November 22, the effective settlement spot price (ESSP) was at P1.91 per kilowatt hour (kWh), lower than the P3.48/kWh in September.
