AMADEO, Cavite: At least 100 drug dependents, who completed a rehabilitation regimen, will get jobs and scholarships from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda). Some are still completing the program at Total Care Institute (TCI) here, according to John Bertiz, Tesda deputy director. Betiz said Tesda is willing to help recovering drug addicts get proper education after completing the regimen. Combined efforts of TCI, Tesda and National Bureau of Investigation Director Aldrin Mercader are seen as a great help in introducing former drug dependents back into normal life. TCI volunteer worker and advocate Fitz Gerald Baking and Bespren Foundation Chairman Renan Ponce Morales initiated the partnership effort with the government agencies. Morales was former deputy secretary general of the Philippine Councilors League. Dionisio Jun Tan Jr., program director of TCI’s rehabilitation facility, said another two-story drug rehabilitation center with a swimming pool will be built at an 8,000 square meter lot at a still-undisclosed location. Patients found to have specific skills during the rehabilitation program will be given one-year scholarships.
