The new year greeted me with a report that bitcoin (BTC) reached its peak of P1,682,936 on Jan. 3, 2021. I first noticed the rise in November last year when one BTC was P631,000.

I sold half of my holdings in BTC to buy more later. Maybe I should transfer my ether, the native cryptocurrency of the Ethereum (ETH) network to BTC once I gain some profit. Two days later, I changed my mind. One ETH reached P53,007 from the P37,632 of January 3. I totally forgot about my BTC and ETH investments because the prices dipped dramatically for the past two years. A friend asked me in November last year if I believed the BTC price would go up. I said I thought it stabilized, but how would I have known that the value of BTC would soar to 166 percent after that conversation. I didn’t want to give the wrong advice because of my roller coaster experience. Just today, another friend asked, “How could I invest in a fraction of bitcoin, since I couldn’t afford an entire BTC?”
