THE PHILIPPINE Red Cross (PRC) begins today, January 11, its pilot saliva testing for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), a faster and cheaper way to detect infection.

Dr. Pauline Ubial, head of PRC’s molecular laboratory, on Sunday said the agency would do 1,000 saliva tests, the results of which would be submitted to the Department of Health (DoH) as a part of the requirements for its approval.
