Globe Telecom Inc. was looking to expand fourth-generation (4G) long-term evolution (LTE) frequencies in the Visayas and Mindanao as it aims to make the areas a showcase of its new standard of mobile internet.

In a statement on Monday, Globe said that it would replace its old third-generation equipment with fifth-generation (5G)-ready 4G LTE infrastructure in cities of Bacolod, Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, as well as the provinces of Davao and Cagayan de Oro.
