A Fitch Group unit on Wednesday raised its growth projection for the country’s construction sector this year, citing the increased focus on infrastructure in the 2021 national budget for the adjustment.

In a report, Fitch Solutions said it estimated growth in the industry to reach 13 percent, instead of the 9.5 percent projected earlier, as “infrastructure will be at the center of [the] Philippine government’s plans to revive the economy” following the damage inflicted by last year’s typhoons and state-imposed lockdowns to curb the spread of Covid-19.
