The country logged 1,949 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total to 513,619, the Department of Health said on Sunday.

Of the total cases, 27,765 or 5.4 percent were active.

The department said 7,729 patients survived the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 475,612, which is 92.6 percent of all cases.

There were 53 new deaths, for a total of 10,242.

Worldwide, the number of coronavirus cases had reached 98.7 million, with 2.1 million deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University Covid-19 Case Tracker.
