A meat industry group has appealed to the government to impose zero tariffs on meat imports in a bid to address pork shortages in the country.

In a letter of Agriculture Secretary William Dar on Tuesday, Felix Tiukinhoy Jr., president of the Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc. (Pampi), said his group sought President Rodrigo Duterte’s approval of three recommended emergency measures to ease the tight supply and high prices of pork.
