Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo advised the family of Christine Dacera to stop insisting that there was foul play in the latter’s death.
He urged the Dacera family to accept the findings of the Philippine National Police that the former flight attendant died of natural causes.
Panelo issued the statement after the family of Dacera disputed the PNP medico legal report validating initial findings that Christine died of aneurysm.
The PNP also ruled out homicide and concluded that rape or drug overdose will not result in an aneurysm.
“Kaganda ganda nga na namatay out of natural causes instead of may crime na ginawa eh ba’t ninyo pagpipilitan pa rin na may crime? (It was a relief that she died of natural causes instead of a crime, why are you insisting that there is a crime?”) he said.
“Ngayong obvious na obvious na ‘wag na natin pagpilitan unless na meron pa kayong ibang agenda (Now that it is too obvious, let us not insist that there is a crime unless you have other agenda),” he added.
Dacera’s family believes that Christine was drugged and sexually abused before she died.
Panelo appealed to the family to respect the doctors who led the autopsy and stop pursuing the cases against the men who were with Christine at a New Year’s party.
“Kung yan talaga ang sinabi ng PNP forensic experts, eh mga doktor ito eh. Igalang na po natin. Kung nagkamali tayo sa akusasyon, umatras na po tayo. Masyado na maraming nasaktan dito on both sides (If that is what the PNP forensic experts said, these are doctors, let us respect that. If we were wrong with our accusation, let us withdraw. This has hurt too many people on both sides),” Panelo said.
