The 18th edition of Safer Internet Day took place on February 9 with global actions taking place on the theme “Together for a better internet.” Online safety, as defined by Wikipedia, is “trying to be safe on the internet and is the act of maximizing a user’s awareness of personal safety and security risks to private information and property associated with using the internet, and the self-protection from computer crime.” One way is checking privacy and security settings in your apps and websites. Privacy settings are a way of having some control over how tech companies handle your personal data online.
