FROM eating heartily, understanding authentic spices to performing extraordinary trade and leaving a vigorous mark on every professional realm, the Philippines and India are the two Asian nations that have many commonalities in numerous areas. Both nations are the land of natural wonders and rich cultures and carry the heritage of very interesting episodes of colonial history. The Indian colonial rule was marked by periods of heavy exploitation while the Philippines came out of a very much impactful Spanish and American colonial rule.

The colonial narrative has left a strong mark on Indian culture that people are still adapting to some changes. Similarly, Filipino culture has also been broken apart and rebuilt by different foreign influences so many times that Filipinos have become adaptable to change without getting vexed by it. The beauty of both Indian and Filipino cultures is that instead of resisting change directly, people try to work around it, wait for the instrument of change to ebb and try to bring the type of change they would like to see. One is aware of the domineering colonial era in these nations. However, one should not forget how colonialism provided these nations with a sufficient dose of democracy that outlasted its tutelage. We also cannot deny the fact that colonial rule allowed us to learn foreign languages, cherish art and imbibe an impeccable amount of knowledge on trade.
