Lawmakers on Friday welcomed President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to seek public opinion on the fate of the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) between the Philippines and the United States.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson, chairman of the Senate Committee on National Defense and Security, said that while the President has the prerogative to decide on the fate of VFA, he has “nothing to lose and everything to gain in listening to others.”
