THE Philippines hit its quickest inflation rate in over two years in February, rising to 4.7 percent on account of higher pork prices in areas outside Metro Manila, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Friday.

The figure surged from January’s 4.2 percent and a year ago’s 2.6 percent. It matched the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) 4.7 percent point inflation projection, which was within the 3.3 to 4.1 percent range.
