Back in January, I was arguing with some of my friends on social media that the rising prices of key food commodities (i.e., vegetables, fish and pork products) are a temporary phenomenon and were the results of the following: the successive destructive typhoons that hit the country late last year; the annual closure of our fishing grounds as a conservation measure; and the devastation brought by the spread of the African swine fever (ASF) to our local hog industry.
