TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte: Northern Samar Gov. Edwin Marino Ongchuan has directed all local government units (LGUs) in the province to put up checkpoints in order to stop the further spread of African swine fever (ASF) in Northern Samar.

Ongchuan, in an interview, on Wednesday said he ordered all the municipal mayors to put up the ASF checkpoints at each entry and exit point in order to monitor movements of pigs in the province, as well as at each municipality over reports of ASF infestation in Lope de Vega town the other day.
