Adeline, our farmer, sent a text message, “Please buy a smartphone for my two children.

Budget is 5,000 pesos.” Providing their children with additional learning materials was not enough in the modular distance learning in our farm community in Benguet. Schoolchildren in the higher grade levels require access to the internet and a smartphone to view YouTube videos shared by their teachers.

Availability of mobile data is already in the monthly plan I subscribe to their pocket Wi-Fi. For sure, there is a smartphone for budget users, but I wanted to make sure that the specifications should at least hold 64 GB of storage. I know what it is to only have 32 GB of storage in my Android phone. With limited storage capacity, I can barely add apps or store images. Browsing at the flagship stores of Realme, Xiaomi, Vivo and Huawei showed phone models with only 32 GB of storage at that price point. Fortunately, Infinix Mobile reached out to me a few months ago and introduced their line of budget and ultra-budget phones.

The Infinix Smart 5 looked like a perfect fit for the school needs of the children, but I was not familiar with the brand. For only P4,490, it comes with a 64 GB ROM and 3 GB RAM.

The reasonable price for the specifications convinced me to take the plunge and try it out.

With a seven-day guarantee period, I had ample time to review the Smart 5 before I turned it over to Adeline.

If you are looking for a phone on a tight budget, the Infinix Smart 5 packs in a large 6.6-inch display, ideal for content consumption. It is a good buy for an entry-level smartphone with basic features like fine design, 4G VoLTE and 5000mAh battery set up. The main sensor from the dual-camera setup on the back gives decent images in broad daylight but not under low-light conditions. The 8-megapixel selfie camera comes out with above-average shots. Though not ideal for gaming, this affordable phone meets the needs of browsing, playing videos and messaging.

Infinix also offers other phone models for different digital lifestyles and budgets.

A discerning techie needs a smartphone that can keep up without sacrificing performance.

While premium experience used to be exclusive to expensive flagship smartphones, one can enjoy it with the affordable price of Infinix Zero 8. Priced at only P10,990, it runs on a MediaTek Helio G90T octa-core processor. When combined with the multi-dimensional liquid cooling technology, it becomes a powerful gaming device. With a 64MP quad rear camera and 48MP+8MP dual selfie camera set-up, it comes with the world’s first ultra-night, ultra-wide-angle lens, and raw-based algorithms.

If you are a passionate gamer, you know the importance of a smartphone with the right chipset for smooth gameplay. Infinix Note 8 brings its A-game using a MediaTek Helio G80 processor with HyperEngine Game Technology that makes it fast. Packed with a 5200mAh battery and a fast-charging system, it can deliver long-lasting performance. At a reasonable price of P7,990, Infinix Note 8 is one of the best-selling gaming smartphones in the Philippines.

Those who are binge-watchers of intergalactic space operas or romantic K-dramas will enjoy Infinix HOT 10 Play. The ultimate mobile cinematic experience is possible because of its 6.82” Dot Drop display, 90.66-percent screen-to-body ratio, and 20.5:9 aspect ratio, close to the IMAX movie percentage. Its 6000mAh battery runs on the Power Marathon technology, which makes it last for up to five days of continued use, 55.7 days on standby mode, 53.4 hours of call time, 13.8 hours of continuous gameplay, and 155 hours of nonstop music playback. Turning on Ultra Power Saving Mode gives it an additional 19 hours of battery life. Infinix HOT 10 Play has a MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core chip that supports all streaming apps. It features an 8MP AI (artificial intelligence) front camera and 13MP AI Dual rear camera set-up with an AI portrait blurring function. Price ranges from P4,290 to P6,490 depending on the memory and storage specifications.|

Infinix Zero 8, Note 8, Smart 5 and Hot 10 Play are available at Infinix’s official stores in Shopee and Lazada and retail stores nationwide.
