Abandonment of work

Dear PAO,

I am a regular employee of a certain company. I was absent for three days from my work because of family problems. When I reported for work, my employer told me that my services were already terminated. According to him, I have abandoned my work and abandonment automatically severs the employer-employee relationship. Is abandonment a valid ground for my termination from work?
