I THOUGHT I had read and heard everything about ivermectin as not being a cure for the Covid-19 virus. Until the other day when I read a newspaper report that the honorable congressman Mike Defensor would be distributing ivermectin for free to his constituents.

I wrote in my previous column that ivermectin, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and our own Food and Drug Administration (FDA), among other scientists and medical practitioners, is not for use for the treatment of Covid-19. They cautioned the public not to take ivermectin to prevent Covid-19 infections or to use it as treatment for the disease. Ivermectin was developed to rid horses and other animals of worms and other parasites. Even Merck, the developer and manufacturer of the drug, has already come out publicly that ivermectin is not recommended for prophylaxis or treatment of Covid-19.
