The fifth-class municipality of Alcantara may not be as popular as its neighboring tourist town of Moalboal in Southern Cebu but for the next four weeks this sleepy town shall be the epicenter of Philippine basketball.
Amid the alarming spike of Covid-19 cases, the Philippine government has placed Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Laguna and Cavite under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) thereby halting all physical sports activities including basketball.
