LIMA: Peruvians go to the polls on Sunday, in the midst of a deadly coronavirus pandemic surge, to choose a new president to confront the country’s multiple challenges from among 18 candidates with no clear favorite.

Four of the presidential candidates have contracted the virus, most recently former football goalkeeper George Forsyth, forcing him to cut short his last week of campaigning.
