A crisis in truth seeking

IN every free society, where we celebrate democracy, the role of a free, active and vigilant press is indispensable. This is why we have to defend free speech and the press at all costs and should resist any attempt to curtail, undermine and diminish its power to provide a necessary check on any tendency of those in power for abuse.

This is precisely why one can only wonder about the state of mass media in the country at present, particularly in its vigor, or lack of it, to check the Duterte government for its abuses and hold it accountable.
