The Department of Trade and Industry–Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB) urged Philippine exporters and would-be exporters to Mexico to follow the new guidelines in product labeling on food products high in sugar, fat, salt or calories that took effect on April 1, 2021.

In a statement on Monday, the DTI said that under the new rules, manufacturers are prohibited to use children's characters, animations, cartoons, celebrities, athletes, pets, and interactive elements, such as visual games or digital downloads in the packaging for the said food products.
