PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte is expected to hold a telesummit or a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga to discuss cooperation to jointly address the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, an official said on Thursday.

Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs Robert Borje made the announcement after Suga scrapped a planned visit to the Philippines in early May to focus on addressing a resurgence of coronavirus infections in Japan.
