SEN. Sherwin Gatchalian on Thursday urged the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and the Department of Energy (DoE) to investigate the unplanned power outages in Luzon that resulted in spike in electricity bills.

“The ERC should act on this because in November last year, the commission came out with a policy that all plants must deliver in accordance with the established reliability index. If they failed to deliver and they cannot justify as to why the plants failed, they will be fined,” Gatchalian, who is also the chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy, said.
