Former insurance executive and The Manila Times columnist Jesus “Jess” Alfonso Hofileña died on Monday of complications of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). He was 65 years old.
The Times was informed of his passing by Insurance Commissioner Dennis Funa.
Hofileña’s career in the insurance industry spanned 42 years, having worked with Philamlife and Insular Life Assurance Co., Ltd. He was an Independent Board Adviser of BDO Life, as well as an insurance planning lecturer for the Registered Financial Planners Association of the Philippines, and an honorary adviser of the Professional Insurance and Financial Advisers Association of the Philippines.
His last column was published by The Times on March 22.
