Electronic payment (e-payment) transactions coursed through the automated clearing houses of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) National Retail Payments System expanded to P552 billion in the first quarter of the year.
“There is a sustained uptrend in the volume and value of digital payments. Social mobility restrictions amid the pandemic have emerged as strong catalysts for the wider use of digital payments in the country,” BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno said during an online briefing on Thursday.
