THE economy in the National Capital Region posted a 10.1-percent decline in 2020, driven mainly by various disruptions, including the eruption of Taal Volcano, the African swine fever outbreak and capped by the coronavirus disease pandemic, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Thursday.

In a press briefing, PSA officials said NCR’s gross domestic product (GDP) dropped by 10.1 percent to P5.6 trillion last year, compared to P6.2 trillion in 2019, which was a significant increase from P5.8 trillion in 2018.
