THE number of new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the National Capital Region dropped further to 2,454 cases per day during the week of April 30 to May 6, suggesting a continued downward trend in the region, according to OCTA Research.

In its May 7 report, the current daily average number of cases is 56 percent lower than the peak of the surge that was reported in late March to early April of this year, and is now at the same level as the week of March 12-18.
