THE NBA regular season is nearly over and the much-coveted awards, namely Most Valuable Player (MVP), Defensive Player of the Year (DPoY), Rookie of the Year (RoY), Most Improved Player (MIP), Sixth Man of the Year (6MoY) and the Coach of the Year (CoY) are set to be announced. With a season marked with injuries and Covid-related absences, the 2021 NBA Awards is down to consistency and resiliency. For instance, top-tier NBA superstars such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant and James Harden missed significant games, opening the doors for other MVP candidates. Here are the likely winners:

MVP – The MVP race is just down to two players: the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid. If Embiid did not miss any games, he might have nailed the first MVP of his career. Embiid is the most efficient player in the league this season, and his team is hanging on to the No. 1 position in the East ahead of title favorites Brooklyn Nets. Meanwhile, Jokic is posting career-highs in points, rebounds and assists: almost averaging a triple-double. Additionally, Jokic has kept the Nuggets in contention despite a season-ending injury to Jamaal Murray, the Nuggets’ second-leading scorer. Jokic is going to win the MVP award.
