In 2017, the adolescent birth rate of the Philippines was at 54.8 per 1,000 women ages 15 to 19. Based on the United Nations Population Fund 2017 State of the World Population Report, the country has the third highest adolescent birth rate in Southeast Asia, and the number is not decreasing. Recent data obtained by the Commission on Population from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed that adolescents who gave birth in 2019 increased by seven percent when compared to the 2018 figure.

There is also a disturbing trend about adolescent birth rate because the PSA's civil registry in 2019 reported that 2,411 very young girls aged 10 to 14 gave birth or around seven deliveries every day. This was three times higher than the number in 2000, when only 755 from this age category gave birth.
