Your columnist's birthday this year was a turning point. All those years prior to the pandemic which triggered the lockdown last year, my birthday would commence as early as the first of May with dinners, get-togethers, parties and merriments extending way beyond my birth month.

This time however, I had a major health scare and had to stay in the hospital for a few days extending beyond my birthday. I thank God for giving me a new lease on life and I resolve to spend each day appreciating the blessings God has bestowed me with.

To celebrate this, famous interior designer, art and car collector Cocoy Cordoba hosted an intimate dinner for yours truly in his posh residence. Every piece gracing his house is indeed a feast for the eye. In attendance are very a few friends dearest to my heart, Ambassador Vic Garcia and lovely wife Connie, couple Sonny Tanchanco and John Gaddi, and my fave health, fitness and beauty guru Cory Quirino.

In observance of the 10 pm curfew, it was brief but one of the most meaningful celebrations I've had, given that I got the chance to be with special friends - the ones that I would choose to be with at any stage of my new journey. Cheers to new beginnings.

Entertainment that night was provided by super belter Yveth Garcia who was herself celebrating her birthday. Accompanied by Marcy David, on the piano she had the guests doing their moves on the dancefloor.

It was truly a fun and memorable night.
