A magnitude 4.9 earthquake took place early Thursday afternoon in Davao Occidental, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Tectonic in origin, its epicenter was 516 kilometers southeast of the municipality of Sarangani, also in the province.
