THE Department of Health (DoH) will no longer consider two Indian sub-variants of Covid-19 as "variants of concern", an official said on Friday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a media briefing the DoH was taking its cue from the World Health Organization (WHO) which removed the B.1.617.1 and B.1.617.3 from its list of variants of concern because of its "lower rates of transmission" but retained B.1.617.2, which has "greater public health risks" because of its higher transmissibility rate.
