MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato: A man suspected of owning an unlicensed firearm was killed, and a policeman was injured in a shootout in Datu Montawal town, Maguindanao on Friday.
In a report by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Regional Field Unit of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the authorities were trying to serve a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the "Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act" against Arman Llamas Maulana, Saidali Sansaluna, and Astron Maulana Upon when Sansaluna seized a service pistol from one of the arresting officers and fired at Patrolman John Paul Quitoriano.
